I shared in a previous post how I began an altered journal to document my spiritual journey. Well after preparing the cover and thinning down the book by removing pages, I stamped the cover using archival ink. Next I prepared a couple of pages using gesso. Once dry I gathered bits of ephemera I had collected for this project. This week I’m focusing on the beginning of the journey. Before I applied gesso, on one page, contained in the title was the word ‘Voyage’. I thought this was very apt so I kept it.
Once I decided on a layout I began to stick everything into place, adding quotes that had spoken to me recently:
I then wrote on the tag words that inspired me and stamped on the date:
For the other page, which was still blank at this point, I stuck in a stunning picture from a magazine I recently purchased and typed out a passage from a book I’m currently reading; ‘Falling Upward’ by Richard Rohr:
I’m really, REALLY pleased with it so far. There is so much power in having what you’re experiencing put down in visual form. I’m certain I will add to these pages over time.
Next week I’ll post here my next journal entry.
Thank you so much for stopping by.
