One Very Special Weekend! Part 1

So, this weekend has been the first in over fourteen years that me and my hubby have had the time together on our own! The children are at youth camp so we had the weekend completely to ourselves. Well sort of…our little dog, Bonnie, came out with us.

With not much in the bank to do anything extravagant, we decided to visit places practically on our doorstep. The first being York. It’s been a few years since we last went. I love places steeped in history and York is one of those places! You really need more than a day to soak it all in! I’ve picked a handful of photo’s I took to share with you here.

Just beside the above archway we stopped at a really quaint tea shop where I had a coffee and cake. The table was beautifully set out and we were able to make the most of the weather and sit outside…

To the left of the teashop was this gorgeous old building…

I was really excited to see York minster! There’s a lot of refurbishment going on at the moment but it was still breathtaking. Especially as one minute you’re walking through rambling old streets and the next minute York minster suddenly towers in front of you!

I snuck a couple of photos of inside one of the most gorgeous, quirky, old shops. I could have spent a small fortune here! It was a real Aladdin’s cave!

The drive home was perfect! The view of the Pennines as we drove home was breathtakingly beautiful…

Once home, we were then rewarded with an equally stunning sunset…
