How I Printed out And cut Personal Size Inserts For my Planner

So, it occurred to me, as I started to cut out inserts for my planner, that I should document the process in case others may find it helpful. I know the difficulty people have printing and cutting out inserts for their planners once they have bought them online, specifically of the ring bound variety such as Filofax. Many of us simply don’t have access to the printers and high tech equipment available today. So I threw this together very quickly for reference.

Printing The Inserts

Before printing out the inserts I first had to purchase them. I chose Mrs Brimble’s Camera Doodle – Personal Size Filofax Printable Inserts from her Etsy shop. My reasons for choosing hers from so many available online is because of the sheer amount you get for your money. I wanted the chore chart, housework plan, wish list, quote list, birthdays and anniversary insert, etc. It does come with a diary too but for now I’m using Filofax Personal Wo2 Pink Hearts Digital Printable Insert / Week on 2 / Week on Two / Wo2P by Peanuts and Planner Co on Etsy.

With the Mrs Brimble’s inserts, I printed them on A4 as my printer can’t handle the personal size pieces of paper. This made things more awkward but doable.

For the chore sheets I printed them out to ‘fit page’ so I could fold them and have them as fold outs, as you can see below…

Cutting Out

For the cutting out I used an old Filofax insert. To make sure I cut around the print perfectly, I held up the printed page to a window, placed the old Filofax page over it, moved it around until it all fit, and marked out the corners with a pencil…

The Fold Out Charts

So, for these, once I printed them to fit A4 Landscape, I placed the template page to the left as shown…

I marked the top and bottom in pencil where it needed to be cut.

I didn’t draw all the way across. Instead, before I cut it, I folded the page in such a way it wouldn’t get in the way of the rings of the planner. See below…

Leaving it folded, lining up over the pencil marks, I cut the paper. This way I insured a straight edge…

That is how I cut out the printable inserts I purchased! Once cut I just punched in the holes. I hope you found this tutorial, if you could call it that, helpful. If you have any questions please leave a message below and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Once again, thank you for stopping by my creative corner of the internet!
